Reflections of Self – The art of mixed media portraits / Weekend workshop 19th – 20th October
Through fun mixed media processes tackle the subject portrait and explore your identity through the tradition of self-portraits.
The subject portrait often puts the fear of God into participants, yet if we approach this subject playfully and in guided processes that keep the balance between observation, realistic capture of proportion and a playful approach that fearlessly reaches the goal through layering – everyone can find the joy of creating very individual mixed media portraits.
So join me in this fun weekend workshop in which we will explore the subject self portrait from different angles. You will learn how to fearlessly capture portraits in drawings, how to translate them into paintings and create layered mixed compositions that are a true expression of yourself. As you create, you will also learn about the rich history of self-portraiture in art, drawing inspiration from the masters while forging your unique path.
The explorative way in which we create the portraits, is great for beginners and advanced students alike, as it unblocks those that have been stuck in a rut for a while. It is also an inspirational session for those students that have followed a portraits class before.
This workshop takes place at my studio in Luxembourg/Belair on Saturday and Sunday 19th/20th October every day from 14.00 – 17.00h.
The course fee for the workshop is 280€ and includes all materials and VAT. In order to book the classes please send an e-mail to sonja(@)sonjasoyer.com or use the contact form at the bottom of the booking page.
