Fabulous Beasts – A weekend for adults to sketch, build and invent their own mythical creature

From Picasso’s owls to Duchamp’s ready-mades, artists have long found inspiration in reimagining what’s already in front of them. This weekend, we borrow that spirit – starting with quick, playful sketches of real animals, then building three-dimensional creatures out of recycled materials and cardboard.

Originally developed for my younger students, this workshop kept coming up in requests from adults who wanted the same freedom to experiment, build and get their hands messy without judgment.

So here it is – a grown-up weekend of hands-on play: cutting, layering, shaping, and discovering what your materials want to become. Painting comes last, the final layer that brings your creature fully to life in acrylic color.

What to expect:

• Saturday & Sunday 10 – 13h, 3 hours each day
• Day 1: observational animal sketching and 3D construction using recycled materials and cardboard.
• Day 2: continued building and experimentation, finishing with acrylic painting
• All materials provided – just bring your curiosity
• For adults – no experience needed, just a willingness to play

Because building something a little wild isn’t just for kids.
