From Spark to Canvas – A Development Journey

Ideas are messy. That’s where the good ones come from.

Every artist has stood in front of a blank page not knowing what comes next – and this is exactly where this journey begins. On Wednesday evenings from 19.00 – 21.00h starting on the 16th September, we will tackle exactly this.

From „Spark to Canvas“ is about learning to trust the in-between. Before an idea becomes a painting, it needs room to wander: to be sketched badly, reconsidered, turned upside down, and rebuilt. This workshop teaches students how to generate real ideas – not just wait for inspiration – and, just as importantly, how to stay open-minded while those ideas take shape. Nothing has to be “right” on the first try. That’s the process, not a mistake in it.

Students leave with more than finished acrylic paintings. They leave with a way of thinking – one where uncertainty isn’t something to fix, but something to work with.

At outset we will be working on paper in order to keep the fear of the precious canvas at bay, but then you are welcome to bring your own choice of canvas along. We will talk in the class about the options during our first meeting.
