Little Objects of Desire – Making art objects from paper, textile, cardboard & metal

Making art objects from paper, textile, cardboard & metal

What makes an object precious? A tiny sculpture, a stitched charm, a folded curiosity: some things just make you want to hold them. In this workshop we set out to make exactly those, little objects you’ll want to keep, give away, or put on a shelf and admire.

Together we’ll play with unusual materials: paper, textiles, cardboard and metal. We’ll fold, stitch, wrap, bend, layer, build and see what happens when materials meet in unexpected ways. Along the way we’ll wander the fine line between art and craft. Is it a well-made thing or an idea in disguise? Does it need to be useful, or just desirable? You don’t have to decide. You’ll just make, look, and follow your curiosity.

No experience needed, just a love of materials, a willingness to experiment, and a taste for small, tempting things.

You’ll explore

  • Working with mixed, unexpected materials
  • Basic joining, shaping, and constructing techniques
  • Turning simple materials into something that feels precious
  • The playful tension between craft skill and artistic idea

You’ll leave with a small collection of your own handmade objects, and a fresh way of looking at everyday materials.

The workshop takes place on Monday nights from 19.00 – 21.00h, starts on November 9th and goes through to 7th December. Limited spaces, so be sure to reserve your spot!
